Channel Tour

It’s all about the water.

You need perspective from the water to understand the Sunshine Coast. Water travel defined our early residents. And today large areas remain accessible only by boat or float plane. When you’re here it’s all about water.

Pender Harbour and the Agamemnon Channel are shining examples. Pender Harbour has always been central to population and the Agamemnon, a (glacial) fjord surrounds the tip of our peninsula. This channel is a major transportation link. Today, given that there is no road access the Channel represents the edge of our wilderness.

In the Channel you’re usually in calm, protected waters. Relax as you travel and take in the sights while running through steep sided waterway rimmed with boreal forest. Through this fjord the sheer rock walls go down 500 ft. Peaks visible to the north rise above 6000 ft.

This area was winter home to people of the shíshálh (Sechelt) Nation. Evidence of First Nations history and culture is strong throughout the Channel. A ancient stories abound. In the Channel you can see pictographs on the walls and speculate on their meaning and purpose.

The scenery is spectacular, the beauty of this place is breathtaking. The falls are beautiful and the cliffs towering straight up above stunning. The trip with Tim was awesome, he was excellent, friendly, hospitable and very knowledgeable of the areas geography and history. Our boat companions were great and we had a great time together!”
