Learn more about the rich culture and history of the shishálh Nation. We can add a Cultural Ambassador guide from the shishálh Nation from our partner company Talaysay Tours to any of our custom boat tours. It makes for a special experience! The shishálh are part of the greater group, the Coast Salish. Looking for a more simple outing with a strong First Nations component? View our our Porpoise Bay Cultural Outing. Schedules run from Sechelt on a pre set route.
We can build a spectacular trip boating one way and flying the other! The combination of birds eye view and on the water interpretive work will lets us appreciate our area to the fullest. Planned carefully this kind of experience can be surprisingly cost effective. Give us a call to discuss details of your particular destination of interest.
Pender Harbour was winter home for the shishálh Nation. Then, as European settlers moved in it became one of the first focal points on the BC Coast. The lower Agamemnon Channel is the gateway to the wilderness areas that surround the Sunshine Coast.
We see several pictographs along the shoreline of this glacial carved waterway. We stop in spots important in native history an other spots that were settlement sites for early European explorers. The aquaculture industry focused in this channel in the peak of its boom cycle. We carry on into the Skookumchuck Narrows a narrow neck that is famous for the Sechelt Rapids at its eastern end. It’s beautiful here in any condition but it’s best known for the extreme currents. Plan ahead to be on site at the appropriate time to view the fast, world record currents that can develop here.
Picture yourself at the base of the 1200 foot Freil Falls. It’s hard to describe the natural beauty here. This is the largest vertical drop falls in the lower inlet area. We can carry on through Harmony Islets. Recreational boaters flock here to relax in the serenity of an always protected destination.
Diversity. No other one work description fits. From the sheltered shoreline of the Inlets to the weatered areas along the Malaspina Strait side you get a bit of a taste of everything. The very narrow Telescope Pass and Blind Bay were areas settled early in our post first contact era and boast rich histories of settler stories.
Not many of us have first hand experience with this important economic driver. Visit a fish farm and see the organization and standards for yourself. When we cruise past an oyster lease you’ll likely need the boat opertor to explain what we are seeing. You’ll be impressed with the high standards of aquaculture, the most regulated industry in Canada.
Got something in mind. We can work together to make it a special experience.
