Egmont Highlights Tour

BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY SEASON, IN EVERY WEATHER CONDITION.

Unique for the small group or special occasion

A marine tour on the Sunshine Coast is the ULTIMATE tour destination. We are familiar with “Highlights” in all of the surrounding areas.

From Egmont

Because of our strategic location at the confluence of multiple fjords and channels you get a great area overview without being exposed to open waters.  Enjoy geography and geology in these fjords. Effects of glaciation surround. Steep rock walls rise vertically from the sea. In the surrounding wilderness, there are blankets of boreal forest and extensive alluvial deposits where ancient rivers ran. These resources are the bases for our local economy.

First Nations history abounds. This was traditional territory for the shíshálh Nation. The villages of Kwáht-ahmoass (Egmont) were known for their outstanding hospitality. There are nearby pictographs that tell stories or mark special spots. The exact route can vary depending on weather, tide, general interest and time available.

From Other Centres

No problem to load at points other than our home base. We can build an exprience in any neaby location. Keep in mind that deadhead charges for the boat will added.

What to Expect

We’re in protected waters. Strong winter winds have trouble getting down to water level, and there is nowhere open enough to build big seas.

This tour has diversity. You’re in the urban interface areas. Get an impression of the large landscapes in the remote areas, and the developments that support us today. There are first nation pictographs and early settlement areas.

The boat operator will comment on the most interesting features. We touch on the history, geography and current events. This is the highlight for a lot of passengers.

Our tour boats are classified “Small Passenger Vessels” by Transport Canada. For passenger comfort we use boats with cabins and inside seating. The back deck area is open for unrestricted viewing.

What to Bring

  • Light sweater and or rainwear
  • Camera (and protective case/bag)
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses and/or sunhat
  • Comfortable footwear is recommended. Soft-soled shoes are best.

“Our guide was extraordinarily well-informed about the geography and cultural history of the area. He took us up close to see ancient pictographs on the cliff sides and explained rock formations, mountain ranges, tree growth and logging patterns. It was the highlight of our trip to the Sunshine Coast.”
